Extended Reality (XR), which includes Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR), is gaining momentum in Malawi and Africa. While still in its early stages, XR is transforming sectors like education, healthcare, architecture, and entertainment. In Malawi, XR is enhancing learning experiences, simulating medical procedures, and visualizing architectural designs. Other African countries like South Africa, Kenya, and Nigeria are also leading XR adoption in gaming, tourism, and industrial training. XRer, an innovative company in Malawi, is developing two XR applications: FitnessRegimenXR, an interactive fitness app for the Meta Quest, and XRCurator, a platform for creating and interacting with 2D and 3D models. These applications will launch in beta by March 1, 2025, marking a key achievement for the region's XR industry.
